At the start of every year there’s a prevailing Be All That You Can Be theme that merchants and magazines alike jump on. Virtually every marketing campaign for virtually every product carries the message, “You can be better.” The desire to be more is ingrained in our culture. However, that desire goes deeper than the superficiality of society. Deep inside is a persistent voice that reminds each of us that we can be better because we were created in the image of God.
You weren’t created to be good enough. You were created to be great and to do great things. But so often, we try to take shortcuts or we fall short (all of us do!) but try to make ourselves look better in other people’s eyes rather than admit we’ve made a bad choice.
Over the next six weeks, our conversations in our worship services will explore ways we can move from good enough, through better, and into being the best person we can be … because God created us to be awesome.
