Making It Simple or Complex?
There's an "odd" verse in Psalm 34:
"Taste and see that the Lord in good" (Psalm 34:8).
God as a lollipop ... odd. I wonder, how many licks does it take ... ?
As odd as it sounds, though, it kinda makes sense.
Especially if you're unsure about God, the Church, or Christianity.
Too often, we try to "sell" the Christian faith with evangelism programs. We try to "sell" the church with special attendance events. And don't even get me started about how theologians try to sell God. The fact is, the church has a long history of taking what should be very simple and turning it into a complicated theological soup.
And theological soup isn't very tasty. Trust me. I've had to sip that soup for decades of training!
Today's savvy seeker gets the inside scoop the simple way.
They do their research;
They look at the reviews;
And they take it for a road test;
... whether they're seeking a touch from the Divine or seeking a new set of wheels.
Why do we make complicated what God has made simple? Or is it simple?
Hmmm ... that's our topic for this week's Conversation.
