The Fear of Rejection

Series:
Passage: John 6:25–36, 66–68

It was probably one of the biggest Aha’s I’ve experienced. The professor pointed out that when we’re approaching a lone stranger on the sidewalk that what runs through our minds tends to be a moment of fear – either because they’re bigger than we are or more often because we’re afraid of what they’re thinking about us when they see us. We all nodded in agreement. Then the professor said, “And they’re experiencing exactly the same thing you are.” The fear of rejection … another way of saying the fear of failure in a relationship … keeps us from becoming our best self. But worse, it keeps us from being faithful to our faith.
