Passage: Matthew 20:25-28

In the day-to-day world, leaders and followers are typically Bosses and Employees. It’s what Jesus meant when he said “the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over others.” Over the years, that definition of leadership has crept into the church, except we spiritualize it by calling them Shepherds and Sheep. But the shepherd-sheep (boss–employee) model doesn’t reflect a biblical understanding. Christian followers aren’t sheep who need to be herded, coddled, or fed. This week we’ll look at what the Jesus expects out of faithful followers.
