Saying Yes to Doing Right

Passage: Acts 6:1–7

Bible Text: Acts 6:1–7 | Preacher: Dr. Bill Tenny-Brittian | Series: Saying “Yes” in a “No Way” World | It’s hard to do the right thing where everyone else around you seems bent on doing something completely different. It’s not only tempting to go with the crowd, it’s difficult to choose to swim upstream against the crowd’s whims. Today, the church is facing a problem that it hasn’t had to seriously face since the first century … the walls have come down around us and our parish is no longer just the members or just our community. The world is literally our parish. But there’s such a temptation to try and rebuild those walls, to isolate ourselves from that overwhelming new world out there. It would be so much easier if we could just embrace a “us four and no more” response. When the early church faced issues with its sudden flattening of the “walls” that surrounded the church, they too had a choice to make.
